Nymphs and adults of both the pests suck the sap from the leaves As a result the leaves turn yellow and in case of heavy infestation, the plants remain stunted Due to sugary material oozing out of the plant and that excreted by the aphids and delphacids, the black sooty mould develops and the leaves turn blackish which results adversely in photosynthetic activity and the yield.
