A lot of videos of carrying out farm work with drones is getting viral on the Internet. So, let’s have a look at, How the drones could benefit us?
[adinserter block=”1″]Cost Saving:
Quick data acquisition and reduced manpower mean saving on equipment and labor costs. However, the initial cost of purchase is high for drones that are eligible for agricultural work. Most commonly used drones used in Agriculture are Fixed Wing Drones, these could cost up to 10 lakhs.
When compared with price, these drones would prove to largely benefit large farm holders. It’s hard for a small scale farmer to bear the investment. As it would also be easy for large scale farmers to capture and process the data and analyse effectively.

Faster Turnaround:
The most important obstacle in farming is inefficient crop monitoring of large fields. There are several Fixed wing drones that could survey hundreds of hectares in a single flight. When this is done with manpower, the time taken would be very high.
When compared the work in small scale fields, manpower seems to be better. As, using manpower the work would be completed and with no higher cost inputs.

Automated: This is the best thing a drone could do. It could process the data automatically and ganerate real time farm maps. Surveying could be lot more easier with the help of automation.
Greater Access:
Using a fixed wing drone, the data could also be collected from unsafe and u nreachable zones. This could help achieve wide surveying and keep the farm laborers safe.

Analysis:
Drones could also be used for field, soil and crop health analysis. With daily collection of farm data the crop growing patterns could also be analysed. With the advancements in drone technology, it could also be used for analyzing soil moisture content, nutrient assessment.
Planting:
This use of drones is not yet commercially available. But some drone manufacturers claim that they have worked out on a technology that could help the raised seedlings to shoot directly into the prepared seedbeds.

Spraying:
Drones are more useful for spraying in farming. As, there are dense areas in a farm where it is difficult to spray using manpower. Using drones in spraying of pesticides also keeps the humans safe from harmful pesticides.
